Two suites on the ground floor and three upstairs all have ensuite bathrooms and some have a/c. The high roofs and overhead ceiling fans help to keep the rooms cool.

Ground Floor Suites: Two spacious suites, with a/c and both furnished with antique four-poster double beds open out to the front garden and croquet lawn with views of the swimming pool and paddy fields. Each suite has a lounging area and spacious ensuite bathrooms with, shower, bathtub, washbasin, and w/c.

First Floor Suites: Three suites, Master suite with a double bed, lounging area, spacious en-suite bathroom with shower, bathtub, washbasin, and w/c. The Master suite has a/c and is ideal for family. A cot is available upon request. Next to Master bedroom there is double bed room with shower, bathtub, washbasin and w/c. There is an option of adjoining the two bedrooms. The third bedroom on the first floor is single bed, with shower, wash basin and w/c.

All open out to private balconies with spectacular views. The gardens are filled with mahogany, king coconut and mango and attract numerous birds.

Plush sofas, a bar area, work desk, Internet connection, a library, iPod station, TV and DVD player makes the ground floor living room perfect for relaxation. The adjoining dining area opens out to the back garden. There is a well equipped kitchen. The swimming pool has a lounging area equipped with recliners and tables where snacks or romantic candlelit diners are served upon request.

By appointment, (for guest staying at Polheena estate.) We can also call on one of our local specialist who carry out traditional Ayurvedic massage. An ancient holistic self healing philosophy. Which is made up of two or more of three doshas-Pita, kapha and vata. All of which suggest a mental, physical and spiritual life style to keep you in balance.

In addition, aromatherapy, reflexology and bespoke massage can also be arranged in and around the gardens and pool area, with only the sound of bird song to compliment a truly relaxing, authentic experience.

Manjula, a cook who is trained in Sri Lankan and Western cuisine, will gladly assist with grocery shopping as well as meals.

Situated inland in Thalpe on a peaceful fruit estate, Polheena Estate is a beautifully restored walawua or manor house that is ideal for families or friends travelling together.

The scenic beaches of Thalpe and Unawatuna and historic town of Galle are all within a short drive. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take approximately four-and-a-half hours; or take the Air Taxi and fly to nearby Koggala.

Excursions: guests can stroll along paddy fields and village paths in this rural southern village. The beautiful beaches of Thalpe, Unawatuna are nearby and surfing is possible at Midigama. Guests can also go on a boat ride in Koggala Lake with many tiny islands rich in birdlife. There is a turtle farm in Habaraduwa, 10 min away. Visit the nearby Yatagala Buddhist temple with its giant boulder formations. Galle’s historic 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is just 15 minutes away. Hours can be spent exploring the maze of narrow streets lined with Dutch and British period buildings, the sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, and a growing collection of art galleries, antique shops, cafes and restaurants.
