Location
Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands has the power to simultaneously create an instantaneous sense of calm and awe. The Weir House is set in the midst of these Highlands in the picturesque village of Ulapane – an area surrounded by forest-covered hills and manicured tea plantations. The Weir House is an ideal base from which to enjoy many of the region’s highlights including Kandy, Adam’s Peak and Kitulgala. The location also offers guests a glimpse into the country’s multi cultural village life. Ulapane is home to all three of Sri Lanka’s major ethnic groups. Walk through the village to enjoy a roti from a Muslim shopkeeper, learn about Poya day rituals at the Buddhist temples or climb the hill opposite the house to watch Tamil tea pluckers working on the tea estates.

A luxury getaway on a coffee and spice estate
The Weir House is set on a 10-acre property amidst tropical tree cover, a gurgling stream and verdant hillsides. The house is designed with guests’ comfort in mind. Long verandahs, French windows and open corridors give a sense of living both inside and outside. Our gardens are dedicated to the cultivation of Arabica coffee and spices such as pepper, cloves and cinnamon – offering guests a rare opportunity to stay on a working spice estate. The focus at the Weir House is to create an experience of a home-away-from-home. We take pride in our personalized service, our excellent meals and the luxurious furnishings in our living areas and bedrooms.
Bedrooms
The villa has four bedrooms named after the produce that is grown on our land. You can reserve individual rooms or book the whole villa. Each room has its own character with distinct décor. Three rooms sleep 2 people in each and the room on the bottom level can accommodate up to 4 people. Three of the rooms are air-conditioned. Each room is fitted with king-sized beds and ensuite bathrooms. The rooms have coffee/tea making facilities and views of the gardens.
Living Areas
The Weir House has several spaces in which guests can while away their time. The living room has separate clusters of seating arrangements offering the guests the choice of sharing in conversation or retreating in solitude. The long verandah in front of the house overlooks olive and cinnamon tree tops and is a great spot from which to watch the birds and squirrels play. The dining room’s large French windows overlook lush greenery. It is possible for guests to have their meals either in the dining room or outside on the verandah. A wading pool on the property is an ideal place from which to relax and meditate on the sublime beauty of the surrounding nature.
