The villa is easily reached in 2 hours 20 minutes from Colombo airport on the highway.
Galle is 6 km from Why House, while Unawatuna is 2.2 km away.
Sri Lanka is a year round destination. Dry season tends to fall December through to April. And the southwest monsoon bringing cloudy spells in June/July and October/November. Overall you can guarantee sunshine and warm weather.

Cancellation Policy
The following cancellation charges will be applicable depending on when the notification of the cancellation is received in writing:
30 days or more before arrival date:
* Deposit forfeited - but credited for 9 months from the date of the cancellation confirmation . The credit can be used by the client or anyone on their behalf for a reservation for the same villa and during any period available.
Within 30 days of arrival date:
* All rental payments are forfeited.
* The above cancellation charges also apply if the management company/owner cancels the booking due to non-payment of the balance. If the dates of the booking require to be changed or amended, this may be treated as a cancellation of the original booking and cancellation charges may apply.
* Any change to the original reservation is subject to the approval of the management company/owner.
* Early departure penalty will be subject to negotiation with the management company/owner.
Payment Terms
Deposit Payment
* To guarantee this booking in the first instance, you will be required to pay a deposit equivalent to 30% of the full payment to book the villa and it is non-refundable.
Balance payment
* Full balance is due at least 30 days prior to arrival
Last minute reservation
* In case of reservation within 30 days of arrival, full payment may be requested at once before the arrival date
Kindly inform upon confirmation of your reservation, which form of payment would be preferred.
* Payments may be made by transfer to our company bank account.
* Or through an online payment gateway with your credit card. If payment by credit card is preferred this will incur with an admin fee.
Stunning private boutique villa
This stunning, family orientated boutique resort sits within a beautifully landscaped three acre walled garden of tropical plants, fruit and spice trees. Here you can experience luxury with informality – a home away from home where no request is too small.
The team of friendly staff have been trained to give you the best service possible. The food is delicious and can cater for all, whether you’re looking for Sri Lankan, Western or Asian food. The management is overseen by Henrietta, and welcomes guests as long lost friends, followed in tow by Nigella and Tigga the hotel pets, who are more than obliging to keep children entertained.
The picturesque property can sleep up to 24 guests in 10 double en-suite rooms, all with private terraces. Each individually designed room has satellite TV and DVD player (with film library), free Wi-Fi, mini fridge and a luxuriously built en-suite bathroom.
An entertainment and outside dining pavilion sits next to the large swimming pool and allows you to enjoy the views of the extensive landscaped gardens. However, if you would prefer some privacy, we can also provide different areas for dining on the back and front terraces.

FOOD AND DRINK:
Our food reflects the cosmopolitan tastes of our guests and we adapt our menus to suit your needs. We purchase daily to ensure fresh quality produce, and with everything made by our in house team we pride ourselves on a ‘can do’ approach to our hospitality. We serve food family-style as much as possible to allow flexibility, and we have a childrens menu available.Speciality dishes include Lebanese, Thai, Seafood BBQ, Singapore Noodles and for those days where it’s all too much, a roast chicken with roasted potatoes and bread sauce! We are a licensed premises with fully stocked bar serving delicious cocktails and a small wine selection that has been well chosen by Henrietta.
ROOMS:
MAIN HOUSE SUITE
We have two suites in the main house which has a large split king bed with an ante room which can accommodate two extra single beds, perfect if you want to be close to but not share a bedroom with your children. This is available for those with children between the ages of 3 and 12, cots for infants are available and will be provided with no extra charge. An over-sized bathroom with large walk in shower makes this a perfect room for families.
THE CABANAS
We have two Cabanas, each comprising of split king beds sleeping a maximum of 2 people.Styled with comfort in mind, they are completely private and have a sheltered walkway to the bathroom of equal size. Both come with viewsoverlooking the garden and rice paddy fields.Perfect for couples wanting quiet privacy.
GARDEN VILLA
We have three spacious rooms in the Garden Villa, all of which have their own veranda.Two rooms can be interconnecting, perfect for family groups : A large room which can accommodate two adults and two children, and a slightly smaller room which can accommodate two adults and one child.The third room has a double bed on the ground floor and also a mezzanine floor with two singles or a split-double so can sleep up to 4 guests.
GARDEN BUNGALOW
The Garden Bungalow opened in March 2018 which consist of two large rooms both with en-suite. They can be booked individually, or booked as a family as the rooms are interconnecting with one room having split queen sized beds.
Yoga Shala
Why House is an exceptional venue for an intimate special event and the team excels in catering and bespoke event management. Perfect for the more informal gatherings, including intimate weddings, milestone birthdays, kids parties, family barbecues and anniversaries.Special interest groups and corporate groups may also take over the hotel on an exclusive basis.
As we are tucked away in the jungle and paddy fields with a 3-acre tranquil garden, we are a perfect retreat for yogi’s, artists, writers and the like.

The following activities can be arranged to make your stay even more enjoyable:
- Cooking Demo – This in house cooking demonstration, led by Henrietta, will guide you into how to use ingredients and spices to make that perfect Sri Lankan curry. Not only do you get to have a go at making the famous street food ‘Hopper’, but you get to eat what’s been prepared too!
- Cultural Show – With music, dancers, traditional costumes, fire breathers, tumblers and more, this short event, which is usually arranged to take place prior to dinner, is not to be missed and gives a brief glimpse at the spectacle of Sri Lanka’s dazzling performers and history.
- Massage – We have a massage pavilion set among the lush garden and can arrange Ayurveda treatments surrounded by the sound of the local wildlife.
- Yoga – Our yoga shala is perfect for one on one or group classes and will help you easily slip in to holiday mode.
